Organizing a Halloween party for kids can be both quite enjoyable and at the same time challenging. There are several things that you will need to plan ahead and a whole bunch of things that could possibly go wrong. Plus, you're talking about planning a ghoulish Halloween party for kids whose attention span can be as short as a candle fuse. The party can easily go out of control with kids getting rowdy, trying to best one another with their costumes, treats, etc.
Although having some sort of control would be a great but also remember that this is a children's party, an iron hand rule would be overdoing it. Now there are several ways to make your audience listen. One way would be to make them busy by having them participate in party games. There are quite a number of party games that you can organize that would certainly grab the attention of your kids.
If you're familiar with the game called Mummy Wrap, you know the kids will be glad to participate with this one. As the name of the game implies, it involves wrapping someone with mummy wraps which in our case equates with a roll of toilet paper. The game is simple. You just need to group the kids into small groups and have them designate someone to wrap. At your cue, the wrap the "mummy" with toilet paper from head to feet. The group that were able to wrap fully their mummy the fastest would be the winner.
Several Halloween games I know are just variations of exiting party games. We have the Halloween musical chairs and the freeze dance. Both I'm certain you already know. It doesn't hurt to be a little creative with your chairs. You can easily make the children feel it's a Halloween game it you make the chairs ghoulish looking like maybe making them appear like tombstones or using darker colored chairs and adding some cobwebs.
And don't forget the music. You can easily find Halloween music in the nearest record store or in the internet. For further enjoyment, you can ask the kids to dance in a "monstery" or ghoulish kind of way. You can even give a prize to the kid that will give the best monster dance.
Don't forget to give prizes to your game winners. This will encourage them to participate, a prize to the kid that will give the best monster dance.
Don't forget to give prizes to your game winners. This will encourage them to participate in the next games.
Another game which seems to popular is the building a scarecrow game. This involves having several groups of children make their won scarecrow using pillow cases, old clothes, newspapers, cardboards, tapes or adhesives, and markers. You will have to prepare some old clothes for this one. The children will definitely enjoy making something that often sees in television and books.
You can also have a Halloween candy hunt which basically is a variation of the Easter egg hunt. By this time, we just hope that the kids haven't discovered yet the candies you hid around the area.
Don't forget to have a scary story telling time as well. Ask one of your guests or friends to tell a story to the kids at the party. Avoid making the story too scary though.
There are other ghoulish Halloween party games that can still do. Just remember that this is the children's day and your objective is to have them enjoy the day.

Some parents are overly protective and they don't want to let their kids go trick or treating. If you are one of those parents, you have to find some other ways to make them have fun and here are a few options.
The first is get in touch with your local community or recreation center to find out if they have any planned activities for Halloween. They may have a costume party or a night filled with games for everyone to enjoy.
For those who don't want their kids to go trick or treating in the streets, their kids can still do this by going to the mall. This is because some shopping malls encourage their tenants to provide candies and other goodies for shoppers. There are also costume parades and contests which the kids will love to watch and maybe win a few prizes.
If you live in a small town, chances are there is an activity for the evening like perhaps a dance or a concert.
You can also go with your kids and visit a haunted house. This event is usually sponsored by the local community to raise funds and what they do is rent a house for the evening, decorate the place and scare people all in the spirit of fun.
For people who don't want to go out and just stay at home, let the people come instead by hosting a Halloween party. You can plan it weeks in advance so you have time to buy the decorations, stock up on food and send out the invitations.
You and yours kids can then spend quality time together by putting the décor up like hang fake spider webs through the entry way after cutting them out using black construction paper, put out tombstones made from Styrofoam that can be made or purchased from craft stores and of course pumpkins which you can carve out yourself.
As for sounds, you can download a few songs as we all sound effects into you MP3 player then just put speakers around the house. To create a foggy atmosphere when people approach your home, buy some dry ice.
The only way your guests will have a good time is to make sure there is a lot of food and drinks to go around. So they don't bored, plan a few games and activities that everyone can participate in. One game you would love is apple bobbing where you put a bunch of apples in the bathtub or basin and then let the participants pick it up using their teeth.
As for dinner, serve spaghetti that look like eyeballs, tomato soup and a few other dishes that are ideal for the occasion.
Since there will be kids attending the party, make sure there are games for them as well. One game could be pinning the skeleton which is very similar to pin the donkey. You can also bake caramel apples so the kids can just grab them when they want another one.
Because kids love candy, be sure that there are plenty of them around. Don't forget to thank everyone for coming by preparing loot bags that they can bring home.
Planning and hosting a Halloween party takes a lot of work but its all worth it if everyone was able to have a good time. The only thing to do now when the party is over is clean up and return things to the way they were.

It is great to be a kid during Halloween. You get to have lots of candies from your neighbors that you will enjoy throughout the rest of the week. As a parent, you should know and teach your children some safety tips.
First, the costume you make or purchase must be flame resistant. Make sure that this is not too long because they could trip and fall. To check, make them walk around the house and ask if the length is okay.
When they are going out, make sure they have their loot bag in hand and labeled so no one will get it by mistake.
Never let your kids go trick or treating alone. They should be accompanied by an adult. If the parents can't do it, assign someone older to go with them. You can also check if the neighborhood committee has plans to do this in groups so your child is able to go with them.
When your children go around the neighborhood, tell them never to knock or enter the house of someone they don't know. They should only visit houses of people you or they know personally. If the house they are visiting has a lighted jack lantern, tell them not to go near it because their costume could catch fire if they get too close.
If the house they are going to does not have the porch light on, it means that no one is home so they should just move on.
They must also never accept candies from strangers since they may bump into a few of them while they are walking down the street.
So it is not too late, make sure that they go trick or treating only in the later afternoon or evening. If the sun has already gone down, tell them to only walk in streets that are well lit. Before they cross, make sure that they look both ways and walk. Never run.
As an added precaution, let your kids wear reflective tape or carry a flashlight so drivers will be able to see them when they are crossing the street.
With all the excitement going on, your kids might want to take some shortcuts to get to the next house. Since it is dark, tell them not to do it and just stick to the main road.
Your kids should also be given a few quarters or maybe a cellular phone. Who knows, they may need you to pick them up.
You should give specific instructions as to what time your children must return home. Once they arrive, welcome them and then examine all their goodies. You are not doing this to get your share of the loot but to check if these are safe to eat. There have been instances in the past where candies handed out were tainted and some kids ended up in the hospital. If you don't want your child to be a victim, examine each one carefully. If everything checks out, give it back and let them enjoy it.
Halloween is supposed to be fun especially for the kids since it is not everyday that they can go out, wear a costume and bring home a lot of goodies. As a parent, make sure that you have done everything possible to make them understand the dangers of going out at night so they will be able to come home safely.

The Halloween season is known as a time for spooky aura?wandering ghosts, people in monster and goblin costumes, and tricks that are waiting for treats. Although it should be a frightening time of the year, people nowadays consider it as a joyous celebration in commemorating departed loved ones by celebrating parties and even gift-giving.
Through the years, Halloween gift ideas have evolved. Before, only sweet treats are being given as gifts but now, it encompasses so many items for as long it is Halloween-themed. Today, one of the most common Halloween gift ideas as Halloween gift baskets or Halloween gift bouquets which contains ghoulish goodies and items perfect for trick and treat sessions.
Halloween gift baskets have become one of the most popular gifts people give and receive during this spooky season. Because of its versatility, Halloween gift baskets are among the favorite gifts people give out to their friends, family, officemates, clients, and business associates. These gift baskets?which contain goodies perfect for the season?are usually themed so it's up to you what you want to put inside it.
How did Halloween gift baskets come about?
Halloween gift baskets originated from what people call "food gift baskets"?a way of delivering food and other presents. Since people started giving these special baskets in one of the most anticipated times of the year?Halloween?gift baskets have become a popular gift item the whole during this season.
Today, more and more companies offer a wide variety of choices when it comes to Halloween gift baskets. Statistics show that these companies offer more than a hundred choices in Halloween gift baskets selections that include a fruit selection in dark colors, chocolates selection with a ghoulish theme, a selection of scary books, stationary, and pictures/posters of popular or spooky cartoons or characters popular during Halloween season. There are also baskets, which contain a selection of gourmet foods that have Halloween theme stocked in elegant picnic or baskets or hampers, or a movie-night basket which contains selection of cds or vcds of scary and horror movies.
If you want your Halloween gift to be more intimate or personalized, you can customize a Halloween gift basket. Aside from planning ahead and watching out for items on sale, here are some helpful tips that can guide you in creating that special Halloween gift basket:
1. Always take note of themed basket ideas. If you are not familiar with the interests of the recipient, opt for fairly gender-neutral items but make sure that you add personal touches for a masculine or feminine feel to it.
2. Make sure that your take note of recipient's hobbies. You can create a Halloween gift basket depending on the interest of the one who will receive it. Knowing his/her hobbies or interest can help you choose the items you will put inside the Halloween gift basket or Halloween gift idea.
3. When creating a Halloween gift basket, try to mix and match. Buying items in bulk can help you minimize your cost because you can split them up in different baskets. This will not only help you save some money but can also challenge your creative and Math skills in diving the items for your recipients.
4. Show creativity and resourcefulness by recycling. Before buying stuff as Halloween gifts, try looking around the house for used baskets and redecorate them. If there's none, search for attractive baskets at garage sales, thrift shops, and consignment stores. Also, learn how to segregate the most expensive items from the least expensive ones so the recipient can have the best of both worlds.

Halloween is just a few weeks away, and then after that it will be Christmas but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's tackle everything one at a time. Halloween itself will require a whole lot of your time especially if you're a parent. Expect to be handling the costume designs and worries of your kids for their school play and party or for their trick-or-treating on the 31st. And with all those things in mind, you will always have to shoulder the burden of costs. How to come up with Halloween costumes while working on a budget.
It is true that your life would be easier if you say buy a Halloween costume from the store or rent one from a costume shop. But if you have four kids and all of them wants a costume that can be quite a burden for your wallet.
Also, if you're going to rent or buy one, you will have to tackle the stress of your kids fighting over which one would be the fairy or which one would be Spiderman. While your kids argue you go down memory lane and reminisce of the time you were a kid. There's no quarrel over costumes because in the first place you have to make your own.
This, of course, lights up a series of light bulbs in your head. Why not have my kids make their own costumes. It's economical, its fun to do, and you can show your kids the value of work. However, if you follow this path be prepared with some resistance especially if you have promised your kid a great costume last year or if you have spoiled them a little along the way.
In the end, it is your decision to make. Plus, homemade Halloween costumes are not always the crappy things that children always thought they would be. With extra effort and a lot of imagination, you can make your kid a Halloween costume better than the ones they sell at the mall.
To encourage your kid avoid the usual white bed sheet with holes for the arms, eyes, and mouth costume.
This is not a great idea, unless your kid wants that. But as someone who has been around, try to be more creative and spend time on your kid's costume.
Try to remember that nowadays, it's okay to have costumes of celebrities and superheroes. In fact your kid might be badgering you of a batman costume. That one can be tricky but with the right materials you can make one from a black cloth, ski mask, kid's tights, and that pair of boots your kid has in your room.
Other costume ideas include a cat or kitten costume which involves leggings, sweatshirts, stockings or rope for the tail, and probably a paper at mask. A devil costume is also quite easy to make. Clothe your kid in all red or black and buy that head band horns which you can practically see everywhere during this time of the year. You can add a cape if you want and of course a forked staff. Just make sure your kid knows that the staff is for props only and not for poking his neighbor.
Materials you will need for your budget Halloween costumes are readily available in most shops or most of them you can even find in your own home. Again, you can create a great costume while working on a budget, all you need is time to spend and imagination to burn.

Who says wearing costumes during Halloween are just for kids. Modern celebration of Halloween includes Halloween parties that cater to the adult group. These parties are wild to say the least and definitely are not for children. The commercial market has jumped on this bandwagon (or was it they that created it?) and came up with Halloween costume for adults which is being patronized during this time of the year.
If we traced back the origin of Halloween, we will see that it has its roots on the practice of ancient Celtic culture of villagers donning masks and wearing macabre costumes during the 31st of October to scare the spirits of the dead which they believe are searching for people so posses.
Then when we became more civilized, wearing masks became a practice in masquerade balls held in the kings' and queens' courts. Hiding their appearances with often intricate, feather masks seem to be a noble tradition back then.
Then we move towards the modern times. Determining when exactly the practice of adults wearing Halloween costumes began may not be possible at this point but it has become an accepted practice and in fact has become a tradition in itself.
With regards to adult costumes, the level needs to be increased a little from children costumes. Imagine yourself with a white bed sheet draped over you head. Although, that can be quite funny among your group of friends but in parties that may not be such a great idea. Unless of course, you want to remain hidden and unnoticed during parties. But the point of the party is to socialize so if you're going like a big ghost then better not go at all.
Be creative. If you're going to make your own costumes there are a number of websites on the internet that gives suggestions and even guide you in how to make your own. If you can afford it, which you should since I assume you're employed and making some money, you can rent a good costume. Buying one can be truly unnecessary unless you intend to use it the years to come.
A sexy Halloween costume is another story. There are a number of shops that sell these. Online stores also have these on their catalogues. You an actually see a whole catalogue dedicated for this kind of fashion wear.
Whether we like it or not, for some adults, Halloween costumes have become more of a fashion statement rather than a celebration of the event. I can't say I agree with their philosophy but its best to let them be as long as they don't bother me, I'm okay with it.
Adult Halloween parties often involve dancing, drinking and socializing. With this in mind, you might want to consider a costume that will not hinder your movements. A robot costume can be a sight to see but if you're going to wear one, be prepared to ask someone to pour you a drink or even put the drink in your mouth.
Modern Halloween has become a fun event for kids and adults alike. Wearing costumes is now an accepted practice among adults and Halloween parties catering to the above 18 age group have become quite popular. Halloween costumes, adult-style is already an accepted norm and in a way has become tradition in itself. Today, adults have something to look forward to during Halloween and I mean not trick-or-treating.

Trick or treating is just one of the activities you can do for Halloween. If you are throwing a party, you should have a few games so the kids can have fun.
The first game is called wrap the mummy. The objective here is to see who can wrap the mummy the fastest. Since the mummy could be quite big, it is best to group the participants in groups of two. With the materials in hand, you tell them to begin the moment you start the clock. Whoever finishes first wins a prize.
Next is the Great Monster Off. While most the kids come dressed to parties, tell your guests not to so they can play this game. With materials that you will be providing them, the kids will make their own. You can then give awards for those who have the cutest, scariest, funniest and most creative outfits.
One of the more common games for kids and adults as well is Apple Bobbing. You again group the kids in teams of two and after one kid bobs an apple, he or she has to do a certain task before the other member is able to do it. The one who finishes first will win the prize.
Since there will be water spilling on the floor, make sure that you have other adults other than yourself to supervise. Accidents do happen and this should be avoided when it is all about having fun.
Another Halloween game is called Wonder Brain which is very similar to musical chair. The only difference is that you don't have to sit down when the music stops because the participant gets eliminated only when the item is still in their possession.
The reason why they call it wonder brain is because you are letting them carry a fake brain. There are many ways to do this and one example is by using a few paper towels, a freezer bag and some red dye. The game begins when the kids form a circle. The brain is passed from one kid to the next and when the music stops, whoever has it is out until the last person standing becomes the winner.
The kids can also play pumpkin toss. Here, you hang a large pumpkin on the ceiling with holes in the middle. The kid who is able to shoot the most number of rolls of socks or bean bags is the winner. To make it more challenging, award points for the eyes, nose and mouth. Who scores the highest number of points wins.
The last game is called Pin the Skeleton which is just like Pin the Donkey. The mechanics of the game are the same which includes blind folding that person. Since the skeleton does not have a heart, you have to pin this onto it and whoever is able to do this successfully wins.
There are other Halloween games which you can plan for the kids. You can even make certain variations to those mentioned and still let them enjoy a fun filled activity. So before the party begins, make sure that you already have a program ready. It will be a good idea to have 4 or 5 games so everyone will be able to participate instead of just watching from the sidelines.

Aside from offering prayers to their loved ones, many people celebrate the Halloween season through parties! This is the time of the year that people enjoy scaring and being scared through costumes and other decorations that fit the Halloween theme. Come Halloween season, some of the things that people look forward to are costumes, prepared foods, Halloween gifts and treats, and the games during the party.
Indeed, what good is a Halloween party if there are no games for the kids? Compared to adults, teenagers and the younger ones enjoy the thrill and feel of the Halloween not only because of the costume for the games as well. Why? Because these kids look forward to playing Halloween games, winning them, and bringing home lots of Halloween-themed goodies.
All night fun!
Some adults may deny it but everyone enjoys Halloween games? And why not? Aside from the thrill and excitement, people playing these games will definitely have one of the funniest days of their lives. For those who are planning to organize a Halloween party, they should be thinking of Halloween games as early as now. This is because it is one of those things that will ensure that success of party.
Aside from the costumes, the foods, the venue, and the decoration, people who are planning to hold or organize a Halloween party should be very well prepared to Halloween games because many people?regardless of age and gender?will be looking forward to these.
If you don't have the time to make your own craft for the Halloween games, you can buy ready-made one in bookstores and specialty stores. But if you do, you can come up with variations?in terms of crafts?which will make your party the most popular "Halloween party of the Year"!
The following are just some of the popular Halloween games for the season; it is up to you to make variations for the props and in the mechanics of the games as well.
1. "Halloween Who Am I?" This is a simple and fun game suitable for everyone. For this game, you will need names or photos of various items, pieces of paper, pins, and your limitless imagination! In this game, the guests are asked to find out what or who they are by asking other guests in the party simple "yes" or "no" questions. Once a guest arrives, he or she will be pasted with a tag on his or her back and will asked to guess what the paper says before the party ends. When they answer correctly, a prize is waiting for them to bring home!
2. The "Spooky Walk". This game is "musical chairs" type of game less the pushing and running around. Here, you will need picture cut outs, supplies for crafts, and music which can be spooky or fun. This game?which involves funny graphics, spooky walking and music?will be a surefire hit to all attendees. The good thing about this Halloween game is that you can play it as many times as you would want to. And since it involves movements, sights, and sounds, it will also save you and your guests from getting bored or from getting sleeping during wee hours of the night.
3. The "Pumpkin Bowling". This is probably one of the funniest Halloween games there are because it involves messy and funny antics as the participants run and roll the pumpkins everywhere. Here, you will need small pumpkins, empty clear soda bottles, white spray paint, black marker, and a bag of pebbles that will be placed inside of each bottle.

Halloween is one of the most celebrated occasions of the year. Aside from commemorating departed loved ones, Halloween can also be a venue to have fun in a spooky and enjoyable way.
But, to ensure that you will be having a Halloween party blast, you must familiarize yourself with the things that you need to do in organizing one. This is very important to ensure that you as well as your guest will be satisfied and will be having lots of fun!
Organizing a Halloween party
Organizing a Halloween party can be as easy as 1-2-3 if you know the basics. To make sure that this will be a successful one, try conducting a simple research on the things that you can use tips, and other preparations to make the event easier for you.
In organizing a Halloween party, the first thing that you need to do is to make a simple list of the people you will be inviting. This will serve as a major determinant about the outcome of your party because the interests of these people will help you decide which particular theme to use and their number will determine where you will be holding the venue, the amount of food to be prepared and the like.
Once you have a draft of the list of people who will be attending the Halloween party, you can now proceed in sending the invitation. The means of sending the Halloween party invitations will depend on the preference of the people you will be inviting. If the people who will be invited access the Internet regularly, it is best if you send them online invitations. You can search the Net for various patterns of electronic invites and customize it if you have time. You can visit websites like the "Evite" and "Sendomatic" where you can design grand Halloween-themed invitations for free.
But, if you're friends are more into the traditional invites, you can send them invitation cards which can either be ready made or customized for them. You can find ready-made invitations in the bookstore or make your own by buying raw materials and unleash your creativity in making Halloween-themed invites.
After making or sending your invitations, it is now time to think of the decorations that you will use. Since it is a Halloween party, the usual decorations should be present such as the Jack-o-lantern, skeletons, monsters, witches, and other popular Halloween characters. You can come up with you own theme and make your own decorations if you want to. If you don't have time to be hands-on on the decorations, you can but these in bookstores and specialty stores. These ready-made decorations will save you time and effort and can allow you to pay attention to the other details of your party.
The next thing that you should pay attention to is the food that you will be preparing. The set of food will depend on the time that you will be holding the party. Since most Halloween parties are usually held at night, you will have to consider a dinner menu. When it comes to food, it will be your option to mix light and heavy meals, which can satisfy everyone.
Just make sure that all of the food?from the appetizer, soup, main course, drinks, and dessert?will be Halloween-themed. Meaning they should come in Halloween colors such as black, orange, and green.

Halloween happens once a year and this is the only time that you can get away with a few snacks that may sound gross but are great to fill anyone's stomach. Here are a few examples.
1. The first is the Bat Sandwich. You will need some sharp cheddar cheese, soft chive and onion flavored cream cheese, drained diced pimiento, chopped toasted pecans and bread slices. After you mix the ingredients mentioned, put the spread onto one side of the bread and then put another one on top. Cut this to shape like a bat and then serve.
2. Something light you can also serve is Goblin's Taco Chicken salad. You will need skinless chicken breasts, tomato based salsa, salad greens, cheddar cheese, ranch dressing, green olives and sour cream.
Cut the chicken breasts into small strips. When you are finished, cook this with salsa at medium high for ten minutes until the chicken is cooked. Mix this with greens and cheese in a large bowl then add any remaining salsa together with the dressing. You can also put in tortilla chips and sour cream which helps make it crunchy.
3. Next is Brain Cell Delight. For this, you will need some jello, cottage cheese and blueberry soup. One you mix the jello with water, put this in a bowl and then let if chill in the refrigerator. Mix blueberry syrup with cottage cheese until it is well blended. To give it a graying color, add some food coloring. Now take out the jello, cut a slice so you can put this on the place then add the blended mixture.
4. Ever eaten a hotdog that was also a pizza? Well you can when you make the Halloween Mummy Dog. For this snack, you will need some pizza dough rolls, mozzarella cheese, non-stick spray, pizza sauce, assorted vegetables and hotdogs.
5. Halloween is not the same without the pumpkin. If you carved one, you can use the contents to make Pumpkin Pie. Aside from the pumpkin, you will also need sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, ground allspice, ground ginger, slat, eggs and evaporated milk.
Cook the contents of the pumpkin pie and then let it cool. Then get the rest of the ingredients and mix this all together before putting this into the pie bowl as this will form the pie's crust. After heating this in the oven, it will harden. Now pour in the pumpkin filling and cover it up with the remainder of the crust on top and leave put into the oven for 45 minutes. When it's finished, cool the pie in a rack and refrigerate.
6. One game that people get to play during Halloween is apple bobbing. Instead of playing with food, you can enjoy it by making Apples on Stick. After you rinse the apples and pat it dry, you remove the apple stem and insert a popsicle stick. Roll this in peanut butter then raisins, dried cranberries and shredded coconut then serve.
Guests who come over will enjoy the different Halloween snacks you prepared. What is even better is that these are all easy to make so the kitchen will not be that messy. So people will know what these snacks are, don't forget to write the names of each one on a small card so if they really like it, you can give them the recipe.
