If you are not one of the fortunate people to be able to purchase a holiday home, then why not consider the option to buy a timeshare. This takes away all the hassles of keeping up with maintenance on a property which you may only use once or twice a year.
Unfortunately though, the thought of having to buy a timeshare puts a lot of people off due to the fact that there have been a great deal of unreputable companies which have been set up purely to con people out of thousands of dollars. These were heavily introduced in places such as Spain and Greece, where many tourists go for a holiday and love the places so much they consider moving there.
Most of these scams would usually start with you entering a competiton, which of course you always win, and then having a prize of going to see one of the apartments. This then leads to a sales pitch and in many cases you choosing to sign to purchase a timeshare. The sales people are very good at what they do but unfortunately it is not always above the law.
So if you are thinking to buy a timeshare then certainly don't rush into it and make sure you research the company as best you can. Look for previous customers who have purchased from them before and any reviews you can find. The internet is perfect for this as you can quickly search for the company name and look at all the information that comes up.
Another thing to bear in mind, is to look over the contract very carefully. It may state that you can only use the timeshare on certain periods of the year. If this is in winter then your dream holiday may just be a washout each year. So make sure you know when you will have a ccess to the timeshare before you sign on the dotted line. So before you buy a timeshare you will have some work to do but it will certainly be worth it in the long run.
